The NEW Opticron Aurora BGA VHD 8x42 is a rubber armoured roof prism binocular featuring S-H type multi-coated optics and Oasis coated and phase corrected prisms. The VHD optical system incorporates field flattening technology and high quality ED glass objective lenses providing flat field vision. Long eye relief eyepieces. 4 stage twist type eyecups. Nitrogen gas filled waterproof construction down to 5m. Tripod adapter socket. Specification: Field of view 141m, close focus 1.9m, eye relief 20mm, H 152mm x W 132mm, weight 725g. Review: The new Opticron Aurora BGA VHD 8x42 looks and feels like a premium quality binocular with its slim uncluttered design and superb balance in the hand. The eyecups twist and click firmly into one of four stage stops, plenty to suit all users. The focus wheel moves smoothly and finds best focus accurately in both clockwise and anti clockwise movements once the central dioptre adjustment is set, this is a well engineered instrument. Optically the image is very bright and very clear with a crystalline view only seen when looking through the very best. The field of view is wide with a sharply defined field edge. The addition of field flattening lenses is obvious, this binocular is sharp almost to the edge. Chromatic aberration is negligible and is minimal at the very edge of the field. Colour rendition appears just the cool side of neutral. The micro resolution is excellent at all distances, this is a true high definition binocular. There is no doubt that the Opticron Aurora BGA VDH 8x42 is as good as, and sometimes better than, any of the high mid range offerings from other premium brands. Very highly recommended.
